Anti-access/area-denial (A2/AD) is becoming a critical consideration in warfighting. 

Newly developed and fielded long-range surveillance and strike capabilities are potentially capable of putting expeditionary forces at risk as they travel to and enter a potential combat zone. This briefing will examine A2/AD concept, definitions, characteristics, and key Russian weapon systems and deployments, focusing on the Kaliningrad and Black Sea theatres. A future briefing will cover Chinese A2/AD systems and deployments.
