UK MoD invites six teams to bid for Ground Manoeuvre Synthetic Trainer

Six manufacturers have been invited to bid for Project Vulcan, the British Army's Ground Manoeuvre Synthetic Trainer (GMST), the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on the Defence Contracts Online website on 28 May 2021.

The GMST was described in the invitation to tender (ITT), issued in September 2020, as a “comprehensive simulator system to satisfy individual (driver, gunner, and commander) and crew training” for the Boxer IFV, the Warrior IFV, and the Challenger 2 main battle tank after its life extension programme (CR2 LEP+).

UK explores new radar and IR tech to enhance SDA

MDA, Lockheed Martin seek ‘final transition' of LRDR

Italy to enhance SSA with new ground-based sensors

Flyeye is a multiple-optics telescope with a very wide field of view that will be capable of classifying objects in space as small as 15 cm in LEO and 35 cm in MEO. The 6.5 m high and 4 m wide telescope will be used by the Italian Space Agency and military for SSA. (OHB Italia)

The Italian National Armaments Directorate (NAD) is procuring three ground-based sensors to enhance the country's space situational awareness (SSA), Janes learnt at the Military Space Situational Awareness Conference 2024, held in London from 22 to 24 April.
