Update: Serbia develops new version of Lazar 3 armoured vehicle

Yugoimport SDPR has developed a new version of the Lazar 3 8×8 multirole armoured vehicle. (Serbian MoD)

Serbia has developed and test fired a new version of the Lazar 3 8×8 multirole armoured vehicle, recent YouTube videos have shown.

Developed by Yugoimport SDPR, the vehicle is a follow-on development of the Lazar 3A1 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) that debuted at the Partner 2021 defence exhibition in Belgrade in October 2021.

The new version features add-on front and side armour integrated into the standard armoured body that improves the vehicle's overall ballistic protection. Unlike previous versions, it has no side windows, the sides are flatter, and the wheels are better protected as they are now under the armoured body.

Unlike the standard Lazar 3 back-to-back seating configuration, the new version will have inward-facing seats, with the central part of the transport compartment reserved for carrying various cargo.

Like the Lazar 3A1 IFV, the new version is armed with the Burevestnik 30 mm 32V01 gyro-stabilised remote weapon station (RWS) with a Shipunov 2A42 30 mm dual feed automatic cannon, a PKTM 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun, and three smoke grenade launchers mounted on each side.
