NP Aerospace CEO becomes firm's sole owner

NP Aerospace CEO James Kempston has increased his ownership in the British-Canadian armour manufacturer to 100% by acquiring the 50% stake held by the PFN Group of Companies, PFN announced on 4 January.

PFN, the economic development arm of Indian community Pasqua First Nation in Canada, said it sold its stake because it wants to focus its defence efforts on metal parts manufacturer Pro Metal Industries, which it fully owns. Pro Metal, like PFN, is based in Saskatchewan province.

Under its revised ownership, NP Aerospace will continue to pursue organic growth, especially in North America, where it is expanding its distribution footprint, the company told Janes in a written response to questions. “In addition, we will look at strategic acquisitions that complement our product and business portfolio and support our growth aspirations,” the company said.

NP Aerospace serves military and law enforcement customers and makes ballistic helmets and shields, explosive ordnance disposal suits, body armour plates, and composite armour for aircraft, vehicles, and vessels. It has manufacturing facilities in Coventry, England, and London, Ontario.

NP Aerospace employs 160 people and generates more than CAD55 million (USD43.1 million) in annual revenue.
