NIMR expects the first Ajban Mk 2 vehicle to be delivered in January 2023, Abri du Plessis, the company's chief executive officer told a media briefing, adding that an initial Hafeet Mk 2 could be handed over as little as six months later. The launch customer for the vehicles was not disclosed.

The Ajban Mk 2 is a 4×4 protected patrol vehicle and has been developed to offer increased levels of ballistic and blast protection compared with the Ajban Mk 1, as well as an increased payload capacity.

Major design changes compared with the earlier vehicle include a monocoque hull with a V-shaped underside, new axles, ABS brakes, and a choice of two engines – 300 hp as standard or a 360 hp unit if required.

The Ajban Mk 2 has a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 11,500 kg and features more than twice the payload capacity of the Mk 1 – up from 1.2 tonne to 2.9 tonne. The larger 6×6 Hafeet Mk 2 is effectively an extended version of the Ajban, and du Plessis explained that the two vehicles have about 90% commonality. The Hafeet Mk 2 has a GVW of 16,500 kg and a payload capacity of 3,000 kg. It will be fitted with a 360 hp engine as standard.
