Viking Norsafe Life-Saving Equipment Hellas delivered the first batch of S1200 Armored speedboats to the Hellenic Army on 3 July.

The four boats have been delivered under a framework agreement that was signed between the company and the General Directorate for Defense Investments and Armaments on 14 December 2021, for the procurement of 41 speedboats for the Hellenic Army Amphibious Raider Squadrons of Joint Special Operations Command. The agreement includes a seven-year initial follow-on support contract, and will see a second batch consisting of three boats delivered in early autumn.

The S1200 Armored is a customised variant of the S1200 design and is a semi-open craft. It features a twin-stepped deep-V hull and an armoured cockpit protected to NIJIII level with watertight BR4NS bullet-resistant windows.

A triple Mercury Verado 400 hp outboard engine installation powers the boat, which is certified to operate in winds greater than Beaufort Force 8 and in waves taller than 4 m.

The boat can accommodate two persons inside the pilot house and 12 on the deck behind the cabin, all of whom have Shockwave shock mitigation seats. A hideaway berth, entered from the front of the pilot house, provides a small storage room for equipment. There is provision for the installation of at least three pedestals where machine guns and automatic grenade launchers can be installed.
