by Gareth Jennings

MBDA has temporarily closed its facilities in both France and Italy while those countries introduce special measures to contain the coronavirus pandemic, while measures at its other national sites in Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, and beyond are under review.

MBDA’s Exocet production site at Selles Saint-Denis is one of the company’s French facilities that have been closed through to 24 March because of the coronavirus. Italian sites have been temporarily closed also, while measures at the company’s other global facilities are being reviewed. (MBDA)

Speaking to Jane’s on 19 March, a spokesperson for the European missile manufacturer said that its sites at Cazaux, Bourges, Selles Saint-Denis, La-Croix-Saint-Ouen, and Le Plessis-Robinson in France have been closed until the latter end of March, while those at La Spezia, Fusaro, and Rome in Italy have been closed for a short period.

“All French sites have been closed until 24 March for deep cleaning and to restructure production in order to implement the safety measures requested by the French authorities. All our Italian sites have been closed for one or two days to undertake their deep cleaning [in order] to complement the daily sanitisation requested by the Italian authorities,” the spokesperson said.

Besides France and Italy, MBDA has sites and offices at Aschau am Inn, Schrobenhausen, and Ulm in Germany; Madrid in Spain; London, Stevenage, Bristol, and Bolton in the United Kingdom; Brussels in Belgium; Warsaw in Poland; Virginia and Alabama in the United States; New-Delhi in India; Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, Doha in Qatar; and Abu-Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
