Covid-19: Farnborough and RIAT events called-off for coronavirus

20 March 2020

Both the Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) and the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) scheduled for later this year were cancelled within minutes of each other on 20 March.

The organisers of FIA said that the 2020 running of the biennial event, which was due to take place from 20 to 24 July, will not now happen as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. At about the same time, the organisers of RIAT, which was due to take place from 17 to 19 July, said the same thing.

The FIA and RIAT events are arguably the two most important gatherings in the UK aviation calendar and the loss of both will come as a huge setback to the industry which was already facing unprecedented uncertainty over the potential effects of Brexit.
