Lockheed Martin names new CEO, Hewson to stay on as board’s executive chair

Lockheed Martin announced on 16 March that former Honeywell and Pratt & Whitney executive James Taiclet will become its president and CEO on 15 June.

Taiclet (pronounced TAKE-let) will succeed Marillyn Hewson, 66, who has been president and CEO of Lockheed Martin since 2013 and chairman since 2014. Hewson will become executive chairman of the board at the US-based defence contractor.

Taiclet, 59, joined Lockheed Martin’s board in 2018. He has been CEO of Boston-based American Tower Corporation since 2003 and its chairman and president since 2004.

During his tenure at American Tower, which owns and operates wireless and broadcast communications towers, he expanded the US-focused company into a “global player in its industry, with significant assets and operations in 19 countries”, Lockheed Martin said.
