The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) spent GBP19.2 billion (USD25 billion) on British industry in financial year 2018-19, up 2% from 2017-18 but effectively unchanged after adjusting for inflation, according to a new MoD report.
The MoD's industry spending has now remained relatively flat for three years, said the report, which was published on 30 January.
In 2018-19, MoD spending in Wales jumped 11%, the largest percentage rise of all UK regions. The uptick was partly driven by additional flight training payments.
MoD expenditures grew by 4.6% in Scotland, where increased spending on aircraft, construction, and weapons helped offset a shipbuilding decrease.
