Shipbuilders and state acceptance trials for Russia’s latest amphibious ship are to be combined to speed the vessel’s entry into navy service.

The Project 11711 large landing ship Pyotr Morgunov completed the first phases of its builder’s trials in the Baltic Sea in December 2019, Sergei Mikhailov, a spokesperson for Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad, told Russian state news agency TASS on 13 January.

Pyotr Morgunov fulfilled a part of the programme of shipbuilders’ sea trials and will again take to the sea in the coming days,” said Mikhailov.

Tests will be held at the test sites of the Baltic Sea, according to the company announcement about the trials.
