Indian Army prepares GoCo plan

06 January 2020

The Indian Army has confirmed plans to divest interests in some of its maintenance facilities through a government-owned, contractor-operated (GoCo) model.

In a notice issued in early January, the Indian Army said that it is “evaluating” the GoCo model for a series of maintenance workshops located across its bases. It added that the GoCo plan is intended to “drive higher operational efficiencies”.

The Indian Army said it has partnered with corporate consultancy group PricewaterhouseCoopers, which in the coming months will engage with industry participants who “may be interested in participating in the [GoCo] process going forward”.
