First Indonesian PKR frigate completes combat systems upgrade

Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (DSNS) and its Indonesian partner PT PAL have completed the embodiment, integration, and test of a package of combat system enhancements on the first of the Indonesian Navy's (Tentara Nasional Indonesia - Angkatan Laut [TNI-AL]) two SIGMA 10514 Perusak Kawal Rudal (PKR) guided missile frigates.

KRI Raden Eddy Martadinata was formally handed over in Surabaya on 4 December after completing a series of acceptance trials. Re-delivery was completed "on time and on budget" according to DSNS.

Construction of the two PKR vessels, both of which were commissioned into the TNI-AL in 2017, was shared between the Vlissingen, Netherlands, facility of DSNS and the PT PAL shipyard in Surabaya, with final assembly, integration, and testing performed in Indonesia.
