The Royal Thai Army (RTA) has taken delivery of a shipment of military vehicles from the China North Industries Corporation (Norinco), the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) has reported. According to the state broadcaster, the vehicles comprised 38 VN1 8×8 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) and 11 VT4 main battle tanks (MBTs).
The VN1 shipment represents an order – worth THB2.3 billion (USD76 million) – placed with Norinco in 2017 for 34 vehicles in basic configuration plus two recovery vehicles and two maintenance vehicles. The VT4 shipment represents 10 units in basic configuration, plus one maintenance vehicle, which were ordered in 2017 for THB2 billion.
