Singapore's Special Operations Task Force gets new command centre

The Singapore Armed Forces' (SAF's) Special Operations Task Force (SOTF) inaugurated the Special Operations Command Centre (SOCC) on 4 December to enhance its capabilities to centrally plan, monitor and manage multiple counter-terrorism and contingency operations.

The SOCC, which is networked to the rest of the SAF and across various government agencies to improve the co-ordination of responses to incidents, was formally set up on the day the SAF's Commando Formation held its 50th anniversary parade at Hendon Camp.

Singapore's Defence Minister, Ng Eng Hen, said at the parade ceremony that the establishment of the SOCC represents "an important step in the commandos' response to present day security threats".
