The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has officially launched the Service Delivery Wrap (SDW) competition in support of the Skynet 6 satellite communications (SATCOM) programme.
According to the contract notice, published on 5 November, the GBP400 million (USD515 million) SDW programme will comprise a five-year service management effort in support of Skynet 6. The notice also stipulated how the SDW will replace the current Skynet 5 contract scheduled to deliver beyond-line-of-sight SATCOM services to the UK MoD until August 2022.
A pre-qualification questionnaire will be published by the end of November to support the programme, with returns from industry expected by 20 December.
