Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has called on Russian defence companies to strengthen links with Indian counterparts in producing military equipment for both Indian and international markets.
In comments on 5 November at the inaugural India–Russia Defence Industry Cooperation Conference, taking place in Moscow, Singh urged Russian companies to “make use of the significant reforms” implemented in recent years by the Indian government to facilitate expanded foreign involvement in defence production.
Singh said these reforms included measures to remove administrative hurdles, the “opening up” of defence manufacturing for foreign companies, and the establishment of two defence industry corridors in India to incentivise defence investment.
