The Chinese Ministry of National Defense (MND) confirmed on 31 October that a direct military hotline has been set up between the adjacent Chinese and South Korean naval and air force commands.
Speaking at a press briefing in Beijing MND spokesperson Senior Colonel Wu Qian said that the two sides have already communicated through the hotline.
The statement comes only a few days after a Chinese military aircraft notified South Korea for the first time before entering Seoul’s self-declared Korean Air Defence Identification Zone (KADIZ), according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).
