Thales Defense & Security, Inc (DSI) has launched the latest member in its family of software-defined radios (SDRs) to support requirements such as the US Army's Network Cross Functional Team's Integrated Tactical Network (ITN) and its Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS).

The 'Javelin' SDR joins Thales DSI's existing family of iMBITR radios, which are being fielded as part of the Army Leader Radio programme.

Thales DSI's vice-president for communications systems, Gary Kidwell, told Jane's at the Association of the United States Army's (AUSA) annual meeting that the Javelin SDR was designed to support a potential army requirement for a Secure but Unclassified (SBU) network and low-cost radio.
