Bosnia and Herzegovina modernises air force with Huey II helicopters

07 October 2019

The Air Force and Air Defense Brigade (brZSiPZO) of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (OSBiH) has initiated a modernisation of its helicopter fleet through the acquisition from the United States of at least two Bell Huey II single-engined light utility helicopters, according to several Balkan media reports in late September.

The procurement, paid for using combined national and US funds, should see the gradual transition over the coming years of the brZSiPZO, from its current 13 Bell UH-1H Huey helicopters, which are suffering from poor logistics and low serviceability, to a visually identical but significantly upgraded rotorcraft fleet.
