Armasuisse, the Swiss Federal Office for Defence Procurement, has selected the Thales SkyView system for the surveillance and protection of national airspace, the company and the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS) have announced. Thales said in a 26 September press release that SkyView would upgrade Switzerland's Florako air surveillance system, allowing the Swiss Air Force to protect national airspace, territory, and populations.
The DDPS said on its website on 19 September that the SkyView procurement would be presented in Switzerland's 2020 armaments programme for parliamentary approval.
SkyView will replace the Ralus/Lunas components of the Swiss Air Force's air surveillance system under the C2Air programme.
