The German Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the public prosecutor’s office in Munich are both investigating whether Airbus employees improperly obtained internal customer documents from two future German procurement projects, the two agencies said on 19 September.
In a statement, a German MoD spokesperson said, “it is not clear how these documents have gotten into the possession of Airbus employees. German MoD now is internally investigating these facts in close cooperation with the public prosecutor in Munich, especially if and how members of the armed forces are involved in this matter.”
The prosecutor’s office said it began its probe this week and is looking at 17 Airbus employees, as well as others. “It cannot be predicted when [the investigation] will be finished,” a spokesperson said.
