US Marines load testing JLTVs on ships

The US Marine Corps (USMC) has begun load testing Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs) on different vessels in preparation for deploying the Humvee replacement around the globe.

The service recently announced that marines from the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines, based out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, load tested three JLTV configurations on the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) and San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Arlington (LPD 24).

"The Humvee is almost 20 years old and needs to be replaced," Gunnery Sergeant Randy Ballarmstrong from 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines, said in a 29 August statement. "The JLTV has better capabilities, technologies, and troubleshooting.
