MSPO 2019: Poland requests Javelin missiles and C-130H aircraft

06 September 2019

Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak signed two letters of request (LoR) with the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency on the first day of the International Defence Industry Exhibition MSPO held in Kielce, Poland, on 3–6 September for the government-to-government purchase of Javelin anti-tank missile systems and C-130H Hercules transport aircraft.

Poland is seeking 60 Javelin command launch units, 185 anti-tank missiles, and a logistics and training package.

Błaszczak said the Javelin system would be purchased for Wojska Obrony Terytorialnej (Territorial Defence Forces, WOT) light infantry units only.

Jane’s has learned that the WOT plans follow-on orders of the Javelin as the number covered by the LoR does not meet its entire requirement.
