Bankrupt Dutch submersible manufacturer acquired by diving specialist JFD

15 August 2019

British supplier of specialist diving equipment JFD announced on 14 August that it had acquired the assets, intellectual property, and design rights of Ortega Submersibles BV, a Dutch manufacturer that was declared bankrupt in May.

The company designed and produced swimmer delivery vehicles (SDVs) from a facility in Enschede in the Netherlands, which JFD plans to retain, alongside its workforce.

In a statement announcing the acquisition, managing director of JFD Giovanni Corbetta said, "Through our acquisition of Ortega Submersibles, we will be able to expand our SDV offering, particularly for fully electric smaller and medium-sized boats, to ensure that Special Forces operatives have the means to safely insert and extract themselves from any operation and under any mission requirements."
