Finnish defence exports jumped to EUR128.3 million (USD143.9 million) in 2018 on the back of transfers of armour plating to Turkey, armoured vehicle components to Poland, and aircraft components to Sweden.

The 2018 total compares with EUR106.4 million in 2017. This marked a 21% increase over the prior year, but was substantially below the most recent peak of EUR222.8 million achieved in 2014.

The figures were disclosed in Finland’s annual Defence Industry Report on Defence Equipment Exports, which was released on 17 July.

Licences valued at EUR175.5 million were issued during 2018 in relation to 59 territories. This marked a decrease from EUR196 million in 2017 and a fall of 53% from the 2015 peak of EUR376.8 million.
