Naval Group received more orders in the first six months of 2019 than the entire 2018 calendar year, the France-based shipbuilder announced on 17 July.
International customers generated almost 70% of the EUR3.9 billion (USD4.38 billion) in orders during the first half (H1) of 2019. This means that Naval Group has already exceeded its full-year order intake target of EUR3.4 billion. By 30 June, the order book stood at EUR15.5 billion.
Better pre-tax (EBITA) earnings helped Naval Group to post a 7.3% return on sales, compared with 6.8% in the first half of 2018. However, revenues fell by EUR74 million in the first six months of 2019 (57% ships and 43% services).
