RQ-21 Blackjack UAS deliveries to USMC complete

26 June 2019

The last of 21 Boeing Insitu RQ-21A Blackjack system unmanned aircraft systems (UASs) produced for the US Marines Corps (USMC) has been delivered to Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina.

Handed over by the Naval Air Systems Command's Navy and Marine Corps Small Tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program Office (PMA 263) on 12 June, this final system will be used as a training asset for the Fleet Readiness Detachment at MCAS Cherry Point. Marine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron 2 (VMU-2), also based at MCAS Cherry Point, will maintain the system.

Insitu was in July 2010 contracted by NAVAIR to supply a variant of its Integrator UAS - subsequently designated as the RQ-21A Blackjack - to meet the US Navy/Marine Corps Small Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System/Tier II requirement.
