The ministries of defence of Peru and the People’s Republic of China have signed a co-operation agreement under which Beijing will donate USD7 million worth of military equipment to Lima.
On 7 June, the late Peruvian defence minister José Huerta Torres (who died on 24 June) and the deputy chief of the Joint Staff Department of China's Central Military Commission, Lieutenant General Shao Yuanming, signed the agreement.
