The Ukrainian Armed Forces has operationalised an updated version of the Spectator-M tactical surveillance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) called the Spectator-M1.
The Spectator-M1 was developed by OJSC Meridian, which is a subsidiary of state-owned industrial company UkrOboronProm. The air vehicle is powered by an electric motor that is designed to minimise its noise profile and can be used for conducting day and night aerial reconnaissance.
The Spectator-M1 features a new thermal imager and an improved ground control station. The air vehicle is also designed to automatically determine target co-ordinates and securely transmit video data to the SK-42 artillery fire control system up to a range of 35 km.
