The Direction Générale de l'Armement (DGA), the French defence procurement agency, announced on its website on 19 June that it is receiving the first 5 of 27 NX70 micro unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems it ordered from Novadem at the end of 2018. The systems will be used by French troops on overseas operations.
The DGA ordered the systems at the end of 2018 after the French Army general staff in October validated a request to procure micro UAVs. The agency said the 22 remaining systems would be received over the summer. Each system consists of two UAVs.
Once their operators are trained, the systems will be delivered to French Army combat and support units and are expected to be deployed on operations in the autumn.
