Companies offer fixed-wing aircraft to Uruguayan Air Force

17 June 2019

Textron Aviation and Cirrus Aircraft have offered aircraft to the Uruguayan Air Force (Fuerza Aérea Uruguaya: FAU) in recent weeks as the South American military attempts to renew its aerial inventory despite a limited budget.

The FAU has reported that a Cirrus SR22 G6 aircraft was showcased at the General Artigas Air Base in late May. Uruguayan pilots belonging to the basic flight squadron (Escuadrón de Vuelo Básico) received a briefing by company representatives about the aircraft's capabilities.

Weeks later, in mid-June, Textron displayed its Cessna Grand Caravan EX aircraft at the headquarters of the 1st aerial brigade (Brigada Aérea I), where company representatives similarly provided a briefing to FAU personnel.
