Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced new defence leadership for the country on 26 May following the Liberal/National Coalition's win in the federal election earlier in the month.

Morrison, whose incumbent Coalition government beat Labor in the national vote on 18 May, said Linda Reynolds will become defence minister and Melissa Price will be defence industry minister. Before the election, Reynolds was the defence industry minister while Price was minister of the environment.

Within the defence portfolio, Alex Hawke was named as new assistant defence minister, while Darren Chester continues his role as minister for veterans' affairs and defence personnel.
