Saab has unveiled a new passive sensor system called Sirius at the Electronic Warfare Europe (EWE) 2019 exhibition in Stockholm in May.
The system uses existing Saab sensor technology but includes new sensor management, information fusion and database management technology, and provides a common architecture and open interfaces for integrating legacy equipment.
Peter Verkland, Saab's senior product manager for EW Systems, told reporters that the system could include wide and narrowband digital receivers, with software-defined waveform processing enabling communications and radar signals to be received through the same sensors. He said he saw a trend towards common "front end" hardware.
