The Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) has selected Viasat’s KOR-24A Small Tactical Terminal (STT) for the Canadian Army’s Airspace Coordination Centre Modernization (ASCCM) project, the company announced on 18 March.
Through the award, MDA, in partnership with Viasat and Harris Corp, will be responsible for supporting the Canadian Armed Forces’ efforts to modernise computer suite and datalink radios for improved voice and data communications across air, land, and sea platforms.
As part of the acquisition contract, MDA will supply seven STTs to the DND, with the possibility of supplying an extra seven over 18 months from the date of contract award, if DND executes these options.
