The Pentagon on 18 March delivered a list of all US military construction (MILCON) projects that were not under contract at the start of the year to lawmakers after repeated requests from Congress for the Department of Defence (DoD) to disclose projects that have been had funds removed in order to build a wall along the southern border with Mexico.
The 21-page document details USD6.8 billion in fiscal year 2019 (FY 2019) MILCON projects it had not moved forward on as of New Year's Eve. The list details an array of projects, including the Guantanamo Bay Naval Station in Cuba, plans to expand the Marine Corps Forces Europe and Africa headquarters in Germany, and barracks construction projects that the department insists it will not touch.
