Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS, Stand 12-E09) is Pakistan's premier state-owned defence conglomerate representing the country's largest defence manufacturing units and hub of R&D activities by offering products for multi-faceted military applications. Its core competence primarily serves its Armed Forces, but GIDS also offers its wide-ranging product portfolio for current and future defence requirements in the air, land, sea, and nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) defence and security domains to the global market.
GIDS is Pakistan's only state-owned manufacturer of a wide variety of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), comprising medium-endurance tactical UAVs and a variety of short-range/ hand-launched/vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) surveillance systems that are compact and manportable. All its UAVS are battle proven with a capability to operate effectively in hostile environments and are currently in use by the Pakistan Armed Forces.
The most recent additions to its portfolio are the Burraq (pictured) and the Uqab-NG. Burraq, built and developed by the National Engineering and Scientific Commission (NESCOM), is a medium-altitude surveillance unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) with an endurance of up to eight hours and altitude of 16,000ft, effective for day/night surveillance and reconnaissance missions. With its superior capability and real-time datalink range of 200km, it has already proven itself with the Pakistan Armed Forces, having been used in several strikes in north-west Pakistan. The latest Uqab-NG, with a ceiling of 20,000ft and endurance of 10 hours, is launched by catapult from any type of terrain.
According to the company, its UAV packages are flexible, affordable and customisable, to meet the varying needs of clients and their specific environments.
