Airbus reported the results of its 2018 financial year on 14 February, revealing significant improvements in both sales and profits. Compared with 2017, revenue was up 8% at EUR63.7 billion (USD71.8 billion), while net income increased by 29% to EUR3.1 billion.
EUR9.9 billion of Airbus's 2018 sales were attributable to its activities in the defence industry, a rise of around 1% year on year.
Airbus CEO Tom Enders said, "Though 2018 had plenty of challenges for us, we delivered on our commitments with record profitability thanks to a strong operational performance, particularly in Q4. Airbus stands on a solid growth trajectory and our helicopter, [and] defence and space businesses are also in good shape as the new management team under my successor Guillaume Faury gets ready to take over."
