A newly developed combined F-16 aircraft simulator and Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) trainer was delivered to the Danish Fighter Wing Skrydstrup (FW SKP) by prime contractor IFAD in late December 2018.
The complete training system consists of two F-16 simulators in the current Royal Danish Air Force mid-life-update configuration, one instructor station, and two JTAC training systems, all combined in a deployable package. The system was developed over two years, starting in 2016. According to IFAD, an option to expand to four F-16 simulators and two instructor stations with more advanced graphical dome-solutions remains an option.
The core of the system is the PC-based IFAD Forward Air Controller Training Solution (IFACTS), which was first launched in 2007 and has had several subsequent upgrades, including incorporation of an artillery call-for-fire training module.
