Japan’s Subaru Corporation (formerly Fuji Heavy Industries) has announced its investment in three technology companies – two in the US and one in Japan – as part of efforts to expand its aerospace profile.
Subaru said on 15 January that it has completed investments in US firms Bye Aerospace and AEye and Japan’s Aptpod. All three companies are described by Subaru as ‘start-ups’ and all are partly focused on unmanned aerial systems (UASs) and related technologies.
Subaru did not disclose any details about its new investments, but said the transactions were channelled through a JPY10 billion (USD92 million) ‘innovation fund’ the corporation established in 2018.
