A joint venture (JV) between Adani Group and Elbit Systems has opened a new facility in Hyderabad, India, which will manufacture aerostructures for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in a bid to pitch the latter’s Hermes 900 aircraft to the Indian ministry of defence.
Considered by the companies to be the first private facility for the manufacture of UAVs, it is also the first site outside of Israel that will be able to develop the Hermes 900 system.
The 50,000 ft2 (4,645 m2 ) site was opened in the presence of governmental and industrial representatives, and will be initially tasked with manufacturing of the complete carbon composite aero-structures for the Hermes 900, smaller Hermes 450 as work ramps up, and ultimately be responsible for full assembly and integration of the systems.
