One of the Mantilla-class patrol vessels operated by the Argentine Naval Prefecture (Prefectura Naval Argentina: PNA) recently entered the Argentine Naval and Industrial Complex (Complejo Industrial y Naval Argentino: CINAR) to undergo modernisation.
PNA Thompson (GC-26) will receive upgrades to the engine room and to the electric, propulsion, and communications systems, as well as repairs to the hull, Argentine shipyard Tandanor officials said on 20 November. The overhaul includes changes to the fire system and modifications to the command and radio rooms as well as crew quarters.
Thompson was constructed by the Spanish shipyard Empresa Nacional Bazán - now Navantia - in the early 1980s.
