The Bulgarian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has relaunched a tender for the acquisition of two multifunctional modular patrol boats for the Bulgarian Navy.

The tender was originally launched in 2016 but the shipbuilding project has been in limbo since December 2017 when sole bidder and contract winner MTG Dolphin decided to withdraw its proposal.

According to an MoD statement, requests for proposals (RFPs) for the new tender were sent to Damen (Netherlands), Fincantieri (Italy), Lürssen (Germany), MTG Dolphin (Bulgaria), Naval Group (France), Navantia (Spain), and ThyssenKrupp (Germany) during November.

The deadline for prospective bids is 15 February 2019. The best offer will be selected by 5 April 2019, with an agreement to be signed by 31 May at the latest.
