Russia's newest Mil Mi-38T utility helicopter, intended for the Ministry of Defence (MoD), made its maiden flight on 23 November in Kazan under a preliminary trial programme, a source from Rostec's Russian Helicopters told Jane's .
"The Mi-38T has been developed in accordance with the MoD's requirements on the base of the civil Mi-38 rotorcraft that is being manufactured by the holding's Kazan Helicopter Plant [KVZ]. During the preliminary trials, we will check the compliance of the helicopter and its systems," said the source.
The source noted that Russian Helicopters and the MoD had signed a contract for two Mi-38T helicopters.
