Colombia is to receive a Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules airlifter that is being donated by the US.
The announcement was made in mid-November by General David L Goldfein, Chief of Staff of the US Air Force (USAF), during a visit to the South American country.
According to national media reports, the aircraft will be delivered to the Colombia Air Force (Fuerza Aérea de Colombiana: FAC) in 2019. In addition to this aircraft, Gen Goldfein has approved the donation of a further two C-130s to the FAC, also to take place in 2019.
The FAC currently operates various Hercules aircraft, which have been modernised by the service’s Air Maintenance Command (Comando Aéreo de Mantenimiento: CAMAN), and the Corporation of the Colombian Aeronautic Industry (Corporación de la Industria Aeronáutica de Colombiana: CIAC).
