Taiwan has taken delivery of the first Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon multirole combat aircraft to be upgraded to the latest F-16V configuration.
The F-16V was delivered to the Republic of China Air Force (RoCAF) by state-owned aviation company Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) on 20 October. Defence officials have been quoted by local media as saying that three other F-16Vs are undergoing flight-testing and are expected to be delivered to the RoCAF by the end of the year.
The four aircraft are part of a programme launched in 2016 and being carried out by Lockheed Martin and its local partner AIDC to upgrade 142 ROCAF F-16A/B fighter aircraft.
