The military domain is increasingly reliant on cyber technologies developed in the commercial sector, creating a range of challenges – and opportunities – for defence companies like Leonardo, according to Giovanni Soccodato, chief strategy and innovation officer at the Italian defence company.
While the defence industry often has greater urgency and security demands than some of their commercial counterparts, there is no clear line between the civil and military worlds when it comes to cyber security, Soccodato told Jane’s from Cybertech Europe, which took place in Rome, Italy, in late September. The conference is the largest such event outside the United States.
