French companies Naval Group and ECA Group announced on 9 October that they have partnered to develop technologies for unmanned mine warfare.
According to the companies, the first effort under the new teaming agreement will be to offer Belgium and the Netherlands 12 minehunters that the two countries are seeking to acquire jointly under a co-operative tender.
The companies said they have combined their respective operational technologies to offer Belgian and Dutch naval forces a "comprehensive, integrated, and cyber-secure solution at a cost-effective ownership cost".
In anticipation of an expected shift in the increased use of unmanned systems in support of mine hunting, the two companies have established a technological and commercial partnership to offer mine countermeasure vehicles that integrate sonars and mine-sweeping payloads.
