The French Ministry of Defence (MoD) has created a new Defence Innovation Lab to help facilitate the integration of commercial technologies for the French military, the organisation announced on 1 October.
The new Lab will function as an important component of France's newly created Defence Innovation Agency, which was launched on 1 September.
As part of its work, the Defence Innovation Labs will identify civilian technologies that can be adapted for use by the military, with the organisation working to accelerate the integration of the technologies onto French platforms and systems, as well as into future defence programmes.
Based in Paris and with an initial staff of 15, the organisation will bring together personnel from the MoD; the Armed Forces Staff; the procurement agency, Directorate General of Armaments (DGA); and General Secretariat for Administration.
