AeroVironment has added Estonia to the growing list of customers for its RQ-20 Puma tactical unmanned aircraft system (UAS), with a USD8.9 million contract announced on 21 September.
The deal covers an undisclosed number of RQ-20B Puma AE II systems to be delivered to the Baltic state by 23 March 2021. Estonia joins Egypt, Germany, Latvia, and an unnamed Middle Eastern customer in acquiring variants of the Puma UAS over recent months.
AeroVironment first developed the Puma system to win a 2008 United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) competitive programme of record and subsequently supplied the system to the US Navy Expeditionary Combat Command Coastal Riverine Forces, the US Army for convoy and ground troop support, and the US Marine Corps.
